Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge

After more than a century of making trouble, Dodge has crafted muscle cars with massive doses of attitude. Built for top performance from power off the line to handling in the corners. Every Dodge vehicle delivers an impressive combination of power, technology, capability, and efficiency. The popular online automotive builder showdown returns with the Dodge Direct Connection Grudge Match, providing a new twist as competitors will be able to use parts to build their own drag cars. The competition is coming to Woodward Avenue in Michigan on August 1, 2022.
“The Grudge Match was a hit last year, so we’re bringing it back to Roadkill Nights. But this time, we’re giving competitors Direct Connection parts to use as building blocks in assembling their race cars,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer of Stellantis.
A series of head-to-head drag races for bragging rights. MotorTrend presents Roadkill Nights powered by Dodge, a nine-day car culture festival that includes drag racing, dodge thrills, and drift rides. The annual event is leveling up from years past by adding a new twist on last year’s popular online automotive builder showdown, won by drag racer, mechanic, and automotive content creator Alex Taylor. This year, competitors will use Dodge Direct Connection parts in building a drag-race machine under a tight deadline before bringing it to Woodward Avenue to go head-to-head on the strip.
“It’ll be fun to see if Alex can defend her crown against a mix of returning racers and new blood. Last year, everyone learned that getting traction is the key to street racing on Woodward Avenue. So, this year we’re upping the ante. All competitors will be running a Direct Connection crate engine that they can modify however they want, but they will all have the added challenge of competing with a Direct Connection six-speed manual transmission.” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer of Stellantis.
Competitors will use Direct Connection parts, including the Hellcrate Redeye 6.2L Supercharged Crate HEMI engine and a plug-and-play Hellcrate Redeye 6.2L Supercharged Crate HEMI Engine Control Unit. Celebrity appearances will also be on tap for Roadkill Nights, including David Freiburger, Mike Finnegan, Cristy Lee, Steve Magnante, and KJ Jones. Dodge Chief Donut Maker Preston Patterson, who won a one-year role as the ultimate Dodge brand ambassador in May, will also serve as an emcee at the event.
The Mopar Career Automotive Program will also be at the event with its informational tent. The Mopar CAP seeks to recruit new students into their program that offers teaching and technical curriculum in more than 100 colleges around the country. Mopar CAP is designed to develop the next generation of highly skilled service technicians who can apply directly to open service technician positions for Dodge.
Tickets are now available for the seventh edition of MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge. Follow the builds, pick your favorites, and watch all the live streaming racing action or in person at Roadkill Nights. Rubber will burn. The winner smokes all.
