Chrysler Celebrates 40 Years of Minivan Production

Chrysler celebrates 40 years of the minivan and prepares for the beginning of production for the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid. The first minivan was the Plymouth Voyager which came off the production line at Windsor Assembly on November 2, 1983, as a 1984 model. Stellantis sold more than 15 million units, since then 117 Stellantis minivan innovations had been created for over 40 years. Many of those innovations included Stow ‘n Go seating and storage system, dual hands-free sliding doors, Uconnect Theater and the first electrified powertrains ever. 

Chrysler has recently hit a major milestone, celebrating the 100,000th Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid made. The Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid is the only van in its segment that qualifies for the full $7,500 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) tax incentive. The 2024 Pacifica and Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid bring fresh updates for the 40th year of Stellantis minivan production. The 2024 model includes a new Sepia interior color for the premium Pacifica Pinnacle model, two new exterior colors Red hot and Baltic Gray. The 2024 Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid quell offers two trims that include Select and Pinnacle.

Beyond the two trims, buyers can pick available packages like the Popular S package, Premium S package, and Road Tripper Package which are all available on the Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid Select modes. Chrysler will feature its first all-electric vehicle in 2025 and plans to build a larger portfolio by 2028. The 2024 Pacifica and Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid began production at the Windsor (Ontario) Assembly plant. Currently, the 2024 Pacifica Pinnacle offers the most standard security and safety features in its class. The Pacífica is the most technologically advanced van in America.

Chrysler offers a new available Emergency Vehicle Alert System (EVAS). EVAS is a feature in the Uconnect 5 platform that provides drivers with a touchscreen that alerts of an active fire truck, ambulance or any roadway hazards that are unexpected.
