The 2022 Jeep Gladiator lineup receives a new diesel engine option, while its exterior doesn’t get any changes in its second year since it debuted at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 28, 2018. The Gladiator’s new diesel engine offers up to 260 horsepower and Best-in-Class torque of up to 442 pound-feet paired with its Variable Geometry Turbo technology, and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is offered in eight trims, including Sport, Sport S, Willys, Overland, 80th Anniversary Edition, Mojave, Rubicon, and High Altitude. Standard on the Jeep Gladiator is a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine capable of producing 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, with Engine Stop-Start Technology to maximize efficiency. Jeep also has the available option of a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine offering 260 horsepower and Best-in-Class torque of up to 442 lb-ft. With its Variable Geometry Turbo technology, eight-speed automatic transmission, and wide track axles to provide outstanding acceleration.
Driving and Handling
The Gladiator comes standard with legendary 4×4 performance and is engineered to conquer any terrain that it’s put in front of. Trail rated meaning it must pass a series of tests on the toughest terrains, being able to deliver incredible off-road capability while withstanding any type of harsh conditions. The Heavy-Duty Dana 44 front and rear solid axles on the Gladiator have extra-thick tubes and forging for extraordinary strength, rigidity, and durability.

The 2022 Jeep Gladiator does more than stand out, its iconic look inspired by the Wrangler redefines what’s possible for a pickup truck. The seven-slot grille to the transformative open-air options brings a unique look to a convertible pickup truck. Like the Wrangler the Gladiator shares various configurations, allowing buyers to experience a full out adventure without doors, windows, three available tops, the Zipperless Sunrider soft top, Black Freedom Top Hardtop, and a Body-Colored hardtop. A rugged five-foot steel box with integrated tie-downs and an available spray-in bedliner is more than ready to handle any heavy cargo necessary. The Gladiator Rubicon adds to its appearance with a vented hood, high-clearance fender flares for standard 33-inch tires, a steel off-road rear bumper, rock rails under both the cab and bed.

The Gladiator’s interior available with premium materials combines a rugged design and innovative technology. All 2022 Jeep Gladiator pickups come standard with wheel-mounted controls, media hub, and remote USB ports. Beginning at the base Sport and Sport S trims with a 5-inch infotainment touchscreen display and feature Uconnect 3 system. Moving forward the remaining trims have an optional 8.4-inch touchscreen display complete with navigation. A standard eight-speaker audio system with an available upgrade to an Alpine Premium Audio system complete with a wireless Bluetooth speaker.
Safety Features and Warranty
All 2022 Gladiator models include the following advanced safety features as standard: a ParkView backup camera, advanced multistage front airbags, hydraulic assist brake booster, anti-lock 4-wheel disc HD brakes, remote keyless entry (unavailable on the Sport), traction control, electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, hill start assist, electronic trailer sway control, and an occupant detection system. Optional safety features on the Gladiator include adaptive cruise control with a forward-collision warning (unavailable on the Sport trim) and a tip start feature. Blind-Spot and Rear-cross path detection features are exclusively optional on the Gladiator Rubicon and beyond, while Sport S trim buyers can opt for these features and an additional Advanced Brake Assist.
All Jeep vehicles are covered by a 3-year or 36,000-mile basic warranty, a 5-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, roadside assistance for five years or 100,000 miles, and rust-through coverage for five years or 100,000, whichever comes first.
